This year the theme was "Bottled Water Free" - making a stand against the commercialisation of water and plastic bottle waste. As a result no bottled water was available for purchase, instead free tap water was offered at refill stations throughout the park and festival-goers had to BYO refill cups/bottles. It's fascinating to read how lucky we are in Australia to have wonderful, tasty potable tap water and how much we, as a nation, take it for granted when comparing with other countries that do not have access to any. I'm going to ask for tap from now on.
The crowds did get a bit intense in the afternoon due to the heat and stalls being stationed quite close to each other but it was a great day out. Ate a yummy falafel wrap and heard some pretty good homegrown bands.
Newtown Festival, I will see you next year.

Chanced upon your blog and enjoy reading it!
I didn't go to this year's festival, but my friends went and all said it was an awesome day! I'm definitely going next year :)
Hi Jo, it looks like a great and fun day out indeed. beautiful photos. :)
Nice photos! I've always wanted to attend a music festival, but they sell out so quickly here in the U.S. and are hardly ever reasonable for me to get to (I can barely drive).
It's so funny for me to see your photos because even though I know it's summer over there in Australia, it's always a shock to see so much sunshine and summer clothing in your photos when it's been growing ever colder over here!
That looks like a cool festival and I think the theme was really important. A couple of years ago I watched a short movie in youtube raising awareness on this issue and stating how unnecesary bottle water is and companies and the lot trick us into thinking that bottle water "is" better than tap water. I still buy bottled water from time to time but I tries to refill them as much as possible.
